Alban St

Executed around 305. According to Bede, he was harbouring a fugitive Christian priest from the Romans. The priest converted Alban to Christianity during his stay. To avoid the priest being captured he took his name and gave himself up, and was martyred. A little time afterward the priest was captured and suffered the same fate. Verulamium was later named St Albans.
