Ashingdon Battle of

A battle between Edmund Ironside of England and Cnut of the Danes on the 18th October 1016. Edmund was decisively beaten. The outcome was the partitioning of England. The north was populated by the Danes and the south by the English. Unfortunately, Edmund died before the agreement could be ratified. Cnut in the following months became king of all England.
