 
Athelstan
Born 895 and grandson of Alfred the Great and son of Edward the Elder. Athelstan carried on their work of fortifying England against attacks from the Vikings. He was the first king of the whole of England from 925 by virtue of being ruler of both Wessex and Mercia. He managed to fight off the Welsh and a Famous battle at Brunanburh in 937 where a Scottish and Danish alliance were beaten. He died in 939.
