Province
A word derived from the Latin provincia. In the case of Roman Britain, it was considered one of their provinces. A province was a division for administrative purposes. Septimius Severus divided it further into upper and lower Britain and Diocletian into four. A fifth was added later by Diocletian. The five were Britannia Prima, Britannia Secunda, Maxima Caesariensis, Flavia Caesariensis and Valentia.
